Thanks a thousand times to the the Facebook friend who called my attention to Jennifer Coolidge’s acceptance speech for her well deserved SAG award for her work on White Lotus. It had me bawlin’! The brilliant and beautiful Coolidge acknowledges the importance of Charlie Chaplin to her as a young person, and the very excellent dad who introduced her to him. I sure know now what to use as an ice breaker if I’m ever lucky enough to meet her. Like everyone else, I think she’s a genius, and like Chaplin, her comedy is rooted in her humanity. I sure hope it inspires lots of young people to check out Chaplin’s work.
