Today marks the 100th anniversary of the premier of One Terrible Day, the very first short in Hal Roach’s Our Gang series, which later became known as the Little Rascals. Why aren’t Spanky, Alfalfa and Darla in that photo, you wonder? Because they weren’t even born when the series started. It lasted for over 20 years, and so there were many different casts over the lifespan of the series, culminating in the most famous, which became well known from television airings decades after they stopped being produced.
In honor of the occasion, I have created this special podcast episode covering the history of the series, available here.
You can also about read about the history of the series here, and about dozens of the cast members here. Incidentally, all told, Our Gang is handily the most widely read cinematic category on Travalanche. People can’t seem to get enough of these rapscallions, which is at it should be.
