Speaking of “Silent Mora”

Silent Mora (Louis Jerome McCord, 1884-1972) derived his stage name from switching the letters of the name of one of his mentors, Maro, Prince of Magic — and from the fact that he performed his act mutely, timed to music. Originally from Alleghany, Pennsylvania, Mora performed magic, shadowgraphy and juggling in vaudeville and eventually made Boston his home base. Ching Ling Foo was another of his tutors.
