Some readers may remember that back in mid-2016, I contributed to the Bowery Alliance of Neighbors’ tremendous “Windows on the Bowery” project, which placed descriptive historical placards in shop windows of significant addresses up and down the Bowery. If you don’t remember, I can refresh your memory! I wrote about it several times:
In the Villager, now posted on the amNY site
I covered the opening on my cultural travel blog The Trav-a-Log (scroll down, there’s a post about Newport on top of it)
I covered the second opening at the HSBC Bowery Bank (the former Citizens’ Savings Bank) here
In addition to my entries in the book, you will find contributions by Eric Ferrara (whose great Bowery book we wrote about here); David Freeland, author of Automats, Taxi Dancers and Vaudeville, whom we wrote about in this Tin Pan Alley article, and Irish folk tsar Mick Moloney, among others.
Ordering information is in the virtual flyer above. Still time to get it as a Holiday gift!
