Well, today is the last day of Pride Week in NYC, and would have been the day of the Pride Parade (though it was the day of a Pride Protest March), and we are a couple of days away from the end of Pride Month. But is that the end of Pride? Hell, no! Better not be! It ought to go all the year ’round! At any rate I know one place where it will live on, and that’s Dixon Place, where, as it does every summer, the LGBT celebration known as the Hot! Festival will be blowing a few minds, pandemic or no pandemic. Sadly it won’t be a brick-and-mortar bacchanal — especially sad in a festival so geared for the Body Electric. But they are having it online at their website. And I am proud to say that this year they have been generous enough to include a presentation by moi. Don’t miss Trav S.D.’s History of Drag in Vaudeville this July 30 at 7:30pm (Eastern). The talk and slideshow will naturally draw from the over 100 vaudeville drag artists we have profiled on Travalanche, will talk about their lives and their acts, and will be a guaranteed hoot. Half the proceeds will benefit Dixon Place, the rest will go to the Queer Writers of Color Relief Fund.
