“I’m No Angel” at Cinema Arts Center Tomorrow!

August 29 (Wednesday) Screening: I’m No Angel (1933), introduced by Trav S.D.!

Mae West’s second and last team-up with Cary Grant casts her as a cooch dancer, a lady lion tamer, and a gal in trouble with the law. The trial scene at the climax hearkens back to some of Mae’s own real-life court appearances — art imitates life! I’m No Angel also marks Mae’s last Pre-Code romp, her last film unfettered by the pesky regulations that marred all her subsequent comedies. This is our concluding event of West Fest, and what a ride it’s been. We love ya, Mae, wherever you are!

Writer and performer Trav S.D. (www.travsd.com) is best known for his books "No Applause, Just Throw Money: The Book That Made Vaudeville Famous" (2005) and "Chain of Fools: Silent Comedy and Its Legacies from Nickelodeons to Youtube" (2013). In 2014 he produced and directed the smash-hit "I’ll Say She Is", the first ever revival of the Marx Brothers hit 1924 Broadway show in the NY International Fringe Festival.
