This Wednesday: Celebrate the Comic Genius of W.C. Fields

I’ve been promoting this on social media, but thought I’d spread the word here as well, since some of you Neo-Luddites may not follow me there. This Wednesday, June 27 at 8pm there will be a free talk at the National Arts Club in NYC entitled “A Celebration of Comic Genius W.C. Fields.” At the dais will be Dr. Harriet Fields, W.C.’s only granddaughter (and a good friend to this blog and blogger), as well as the one and only Dick Cavett, and Columbia film professor Rob King. There will be film clips and conversation. The National Arts Club is at 15 Gramercy Park South. Reservations: film@thenationalartsclub.org. [THIS JUST IN: THE EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT]

And while  have your attention, Fields fans, please join the campaign to vote for Man on the Flying Trapeze as the next W.C. Fields film added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. Go to to www.wcfields.com where the nominating form is on the Home page column to left – National Film Preservation Board!
