One Week From Today: Trav S.D. and Friends Celebrate Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison

FOLSOM AT FIFTY/ Thursday, May 3, 7:30pm (running time: 45 minutes)/ Dixon Place/ 161A Chrystie Street, NYC/ FREE!

Johnny Cash‘s classic 1968 live album At Folsom Prison is more relevant than ever these days with record numbers of Americans incarcerated and a new President whose governing philosophy consists of locking people up and building walls. The album was an important childhood musical influence on me and I’ll perform tunes from the record (and other relevant Cash songs and other folk numbers) with a little help from friends Noah Diamond and Amanda Sisk, et al, and talk about the meaning of the songs, the style of which influenced the music in my musical plays House of Trash and Jasper Jaxon. Join is for this 50th anniversary tribute to a great American artist who left us 15 years ago! And a chance to hang out! More info here.
