Happy 150th Birthday, Joe Weber and Lew Fields: October 16, 7pm
2017 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of both members of America’s premier comedy team and pioneers of Broadway: Joe Weber and Lew Fields. Without Weber and Fields there would be no Marx Brothers, Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello, or “the Sunshine Boys”.
Writer and performer Trav S.D. (No Applause, Just Throw Money: The Book That Made Vaudeville Famous) marks the occasion with an entertaining illustrated talk about how this pair of comical kids from the Lower East Side changed American culture, and changed America in the bargain. And what better time to celebrate these faux Germans than the month of Oktorbest?
Technically, this is a private event, but we’d love to share it with as many classic comedy buffs as possible. If you reach out to me and you’re not a psycho, I’ll get you the location and other details and we’ll put you on the RSVP list.
