Because, why the hell not, I and my friends on the Marxfest Committee (the folks who brought you Marxfest in 2014) and key cast members from our I’ll Say She Is revival, are back this coming weekend, with a series of free, informal programs in a house on Governor’s Island. The full schedule is below. I’ll be participating in several talks and panels, and the highlight of the whole weekend I do believe will be a reading of Cracked Ice, an early draft of Duck Soup by Kalmar and Ruby, interestingly different from the final film in many ways, though just as funny. Also in the reading will be ISSI cast members Noah Diamond, Seth Sheldon, Matt Roper, Matt Walters, Kathy Biehl and Melody Jane. I begged to play Trentino (the humorless Louis Calhern part) and got my wish! And Jonny Porkpie is in it too! Come one, come all to Marx Brothers Island!
