Two 1935 Gems Tomorrow Morning on TCM

Tomorrow morning at 6am Eastern, TCM will be showing Naughty Marietta, MGM’s 1935 adaptation of Victor Herbert’s 1910 hit show. Who’s crazy enough to get up at the crack of dawn and watch that shit just out of historical curiosity? I am! Even with the knowledge of how deadly dull Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald are!

Furthermore, Naughty Marietta will be followed by another 1935 film, featuring  Shirley Temple as the title character in The Littlest Rebel. This is the Civil War one, in which Bill Robinson plays her trusted friend and confidante “Uncle Billy”, a house slave. We shall have great fun comparing him to Samuel L. Jackson in Django Unchained.
