Quark (1977-78) was one of my favorite shows during my junior high school years. Created by Buck Henry it was a parody of Star Trek and Star Wars which starred Richard Benjamin as the title character, the commander of an interstellar garbage scow. His crew consisted of the Bettys (a pair of sexy female clones); Gene/ Jean, a character who would alternate between being male and female; Ficus, a “Vegeton” or humanoid vegetable creature; and Andy, a cowardly robot. Quark’s boss “Palindome” was played by Conrad Janis.
The show (like all my favorite shows) was too good for television. It was cancelled after only eight episodes. I can assure you I watched every single one.
