Pilgrimage to the Grave of Lola Montez
I meant to do this two weeks ago on her birthday but it was raining that day so we made the pilgramage today and are posting it for Women’s History Month. If you want to find out who Eliza Gilbert a.k.a Lola Montez was , you can read my full post about her here. She’s buried in Green-wood Cemetary which is not far from our house, so the Dutchess and I trekked over and paid our respects. A modest monument for one who enjoyed such fame in her lifetime and was, after all, a Countess. But an excellent way to spend a grey day like today!
To find out more about the history of vaudeville, please consult my critically acclaimed book No Applause, Just Throw Money: The Book That Made Vaudeville Famous, available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and many other fine establishments.
