I HEAR AMERICA SINGING
In association with Opera in Brownsville, the 1st Annual BEAT (Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theater) Festival and the Performing the Streets Festival.
The first three song cycles of I Hear America Singing will presented together for the first time in FREE CONCERTS around Brooklyn!
T
hree singers will perform three song cycles set to poetry written by young students mentored by writer and community activist Angeli Rasbury. A number of these budding writers will be present at the events, reading their poems that were set to music.
The song cycles that will be performed are:
“Brooklyn Cinderella” with music by Nkeiru Okoye
performed by soprano Adrienne Danrich (pictured, right)
“Songs from the A Train” with music by Gilda Lyons
performed by baritone Jorell Williams
“Songs from the F Train” with music by Gilda Lyons
performed by contralto Nicole Mitchell
The presentation will conclude with an encore performed by all three singers.

More about Opera in Brownsville: OPERA IN BROWNSVILLE is the brainchild of writer and community activist Angeli Rasbury and brings opera and classical singers to this under-served section of Brooklyn.
