Stars of the AVT #54: Bunny Love
This post is one of a series profiling the hundreds of performers I’ve presented through my American Vaudeville Theatre in celebration of its 15th anniversary. Don’t miss the American Vaudeville Theatre’s 15th Anniversary ExTRAVaganza in the New York International Fringe Festival this August!
When I presented the woman who portrays Bunny Love in my burlesque show back in 2001, she was not yet operating under that handle. I believe I may have met her through Bambi the Mermaid. I’m not sure if I can give her real name, although it’s out there in the world a little bit. She seems to have appeared in an Italian horror film with Robert Vaughn under her given name. And some, erm, other movies. At any rate, while I knew of “Bunny Love” through the glories of social media, I hadn’t put her together with the person I knew ’til I saw her in the documentary Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque. Nowadays it appears her specialty is jumping out of cakes! (A bunny in a cake reminds me of the rabbit boiling scene in Fatal Attraction, but then, I have morbid tendencies). She performs at all the usual burlesque joints: Slipper Room, This or That, Galapagos, Burlesque at the Beach, La Scandal, etc, and has even made some short films of her own as director that have made the rounds of the indie film circuit.
