History of the Apollo Theatre

Long the flagship of African American entertainment, including so many of the entertainers profiled in these annals, the Apollo Theater turns 75 years old this year. It is consequently the subject of the celebratory exhibit Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing: How the Apollo Theater Shaped American Entertainment, opening at the Museum of the City of New York today.
